Umbilical’s creative team—visual artist David Farrell, composer Benjamin Dwyer and theorist Tina Kinsella—has woven Japanese Butoh dance, new music, projected image and contemporary theory to create a multimedia re-staging of the Oedipus story that revisits this foundational myth from the perspective of Jocasta—Oedipus’s lover and mother.
